Pretty much what the thread topic says! Apparently Rio doesn't strike feed and prefers to eat under cover of darkness and privacy so would be easier to feed in her RUB, but worried about the potential for impaction. The size of the bark can be seen in the set-up pics in the photos section.

Thanks in advance

I've also used the black piece of card found in chocolate boxes. :)

I think the paper swallowing act is pretty uncommon. I've only had it happen once...ever. But a plastic dish you used only for feeding night might work, too.

Ok, maybe not kitchen roll then, don't want a mexican rainbow boa! A plastic dish that she couldn't drag it out of perhaps? The humid air will condense on plastic though....tricky!

My experience is that small amounts of moss accidentally taken with a meal do not cause harm. However, if the hide is open on the bottom, that will not solve the risk.

BTW, I almost had one boa down a piece of kitchen paper. She had wrapped her meal on the sheet, and in so doing wrapped the paper around it (kind of like a rat-paper burrito). I had tugged the rodent's head free of the paper, but still came back later to find a disappearing rear foot had dragged a corner of the paper with it...luckily I was able to free that!

What about putting the mouse/rat in the damp moss hide .... that would be safe and dark !?

^^^ That's what I did the one time I left a rat in with the baron overnight.
