my friend has a colombian rainbow boa and he tells me he didnt even know about the humidity requirements (the pet shop did not mention it) and the rainbow boa is thriving and has been for seven months, the place im getting my BRB from also says just put the water bowl under the heat mat and light and use moss or damp substrate and thats it. IM CONFUSED

I agree- I wouldn't risk low humidity with my rainbow boa.

I have heard of some breeders using a dry set up and just having a damp box, but I like to keep my set ups as natural as possible.

high humidity is very important. without it it can cause incomplete sheds which can cause all sorts of problems and upper respiritry infections. this can be very hard to cure and can be fatal.there are always exceptions your friends may be one of them.by puttin water bowl over heat mat and using substrate like moss with daily misting and the humidity will be sufficient. hope that's helped with the myth.

apparently the high humidity is a guideline, not a requirement....
