Posted - 07/07/2010 : 00:23:16 Here is an odd one. Samson likes it in his end with lower humidity. Around 75%. I've shifted him into the bigger 3 foot for a few hours when i get home from work untill bed time when he goes back into his rub. But he seems much more active and i'd guess you could say happier when the temps are slightly lower and the humidity is lower. There is still a hot spot and really humid moss pot yet he hardly goes there.
I'm sure he knows whats best and is just doing what he wants but i don't want to harm him
Thoughts? opinions? He is only a few months old yet very adventurous. |

Posted - 13/08/2010 : 18:19:20 Sounds like he's choosing temperature over humidity actually. Unless my math is off, 27'C is about 80-81'F. That's what most Brazilians would consider on the warm side. What is your warm end set at?
As a double check, though, you might try a quick experiment: switch the two hides between the cool and hot ends. If he still sticks in the cool end, then it's a temperature issue rather than a humidity issue. (75-80% is perfect anyway for an adult, good job!)
Good luck, and hope this helps, |

Posted - 12/07/2010 : 18:06:45 Yeah i have done. He tends to sit in the cold end on low humidity. Which is as of speaking 79% and 27'. He has been up the warm end and does scount around at night but not as much as i would have thought after doing my research |

It's a bit like the temperature gradients- you give them a warm side and a cold side to allow the snake to find it's own level. Humidity is the same. Even if he doesn't tend to use the high humidity area, you should still provide one so that if he needs it it's there |
