A Brazilian kept in a low humidity environment can have major shed issues, as well as possibly develop respiratory problems. It does take some time, however -- a short period isn't a cause for alarm.

The moss should go in the hide, but can go in either one. I only have one hide, and move it from the hot to the cold end depending on the season: the cold end in the hot summer, and the hot end in the cold winter. Note: soak the moss in water and then wring it out, like a washcloth. It should be damp, not soaked.

The humidity probe can go anywhere in the cage. The hot end may give higher readings, as more evaporation is (probably) taking place there, so midcage may be best to get a fair average. Remember, however, you are measuring the general cage air, and the humidity in the moist hide will always be much higher.

Hope this helps,
