Hiya
Ive recently persuaded the wife to let me have the brb as well as earl my royal so picked one off as exotics, moneys sent to secure the brb so I just need to set up the viv for him
My main question is about viv position as in would it be too much a problem to have the brb viv on top of earls viv, both vivs are going on microclimate stats once they arrive next week so temp should be ok to control individually and I was also thinking that having the brb viv on top may help with keeping the humidity but not sure if am likely to have cold side issues ?

I stacked Exo-terras in the past.
So long as the top one wasn't to heavy it was ok.
I also put a viv that had about 14 kilos of slate and purbeck stone inside on top of an atasuki viv, the atasuki is still going well.
In regards stacking, I personally (<--key word) have stacked many things that shouldn't really be stacked and so long as they were secure and not likely to slide off each other or had to much weight pressed on a horizontal part of another viv, then I didn't have any problems.

The sides of the lower viv will take the most weight.
Depending on how you heat the lower viv, you may find temps in the one above will fluctuate a bit more, if it does then insulating it will be necessary.
I've known heatlamps in wooden vivs give a near perfect temp for a rub on top in the past.

one option would be to make a rack for the exo terra's to slide into using melamine or ply wood. |

I did not realize the ET line is made of glass. Glass is not a great choice for Brazilians for reasons of temp control/insulation -- stacking is a secondary concern! Stacking is OK for wooden vivs, but due to their weight is better for the many plastic vivs made these days. (Plastic is also lighter and holds humidity better than wood.)

No you can stack exo terras because they are glass, you should only stack wooden vivs. The likelihood is that the top viv would fall off the other, or the bottom glass may crack. |

I'm not familiar with these particular units, but I do stack my own vivs at home and have had no problems.
Your stat plan sounds fine.
So long as you keep the overall viv temp gradient within the recommended levels (71F-83F) you should be fine, cold side or not.

Hi , I would not connect the same thermostat with two complete-ly different snakes as royals need a little more heat then a brazilian rainbow boa would need so best to have two thermostats to controll the heat seperatly to be on the safe side. |
