Posted - 30/01/2011 : 20:51:31 Got my 9L rub put in the plantation soil, the moss hide, log hide, water bowl and the hygrometer probe and thermometer probe.
So far so good. Temps are spot on and humidity is at 86%
Will monitor it over the next 48 hours and then I will be ready for my little girl

Posted - 01/02/2011 : 19:43:32 93% is fine, Louise -- they recommend 85-90% for babies anyway. Too much humidity is better than too low anyway, so I'd skip the extra holes (or, add them one by one separated by a week each, just to be sure). |

Posted - 01/02/2011 : 17:10:09 Well I have decided to take out the plantation soil and use kitchen paper as a substrate.
With the moss hide at the warm end and the water bowl (large flat one) in the middle I am still getting 90% humidity but without everything being dripping wet. I can just spray as often as needed to raise the humidity if it drops but it is much better this way.
The breeder is dropping off my snake later so I can go over any problems with them but I'm quite pleased with it all.
One things for sure, rubs are fantastic for keeping high humidity levels! |

Posted - 31/01/2011 : 11:04:52 I think 93% should be ok but you can maybe drill in a like 2-4 more holes . |

Posted - 31/01/2011 : 07:41:10 Well this morning the humidity was 93%!
But...the temps were too high by 3 degrees so will do a bit of thermostat tweaking today and once I have the temps right the humidity should drop a little. If not I may have to add a few more air holes. Unless 93% is ok? |

Posted - 30/01/2011 : 23:02:07 Hiya louise
Mine stayed at 89% for a good few days after setting it up before dropping and staying between 84% and 86% at the moment so would expect it to drop slightly soon
You will be amazed at how well these guys can hide lol
