Well, it looks like it's finally happened, a Brazilian has finally crossed my path which needed a new home fast. It had 2 friends that also came along for the ride: a juvenile Columbian Rainbow boa and a juvenile Pastel Royal python. They all needed new homes, a name and a little TLC, so I've taken them and are passing some of them amongst my trusted friends in the area who are dedicated and responsible keepers. The Royal is already placed and I may decided to keep the Brazilian and the Columbian - we'll see after they've gotten up to par. Anyhow...
Brazilian, now known as Mojo upon arrival (with Royal python) and 2 now shots
Columbian, now known as Dusty upon arrival and now
Skyler, whom some may know decided to stop eating in late November 2011, finally accepted a small meal today!

Cont'd...
Skyler's hunger strike is over and she continues to eat
Mojo shed and although his skin is getting up to par and his scrapes and scratches are repairing themselves, he looked horribly thin after the moult and still wouldn't eat
I left him alone to settle in. Once he started moving around on his own in the tank, it was clear he was getting more comfortable so I offered him some food and he ate 2 items for me and is starting to fill out a bit, so I'm confident he's on the road to recovery. The food did him a world of good, but I'd like to double his weight if not triple it before I'm happy with how far he's come. It's only been slightly over 4 weeks, but he's already come a long way, and I'm starting to think that perhaps he can stay :)

Huh. Well, that's semi-helpful...but raises as many questions as it provides answers. I wonder what he got sick with, and how, if no other pets did? Glad he recovered though. |

This is what she told me about it:
"the mark on the Brazilian's head was from about a year and a half ago. He got sick, stopped eating, and got quarantined. Itwas a sore down to the bone. There were other sores, but not that deep, and they healed beautifully. I eventually, after extensive tlc, healed him with polysporin and saline in the nose (he was also having breathing problems) but we haven't had problems since, and none of our other snakes got sick. Anyone I know with extensive snake experience were baffled." |

All gorgeous animals. And lucky, too, to find a second home with you!
Does the prior owner know what happened to Mojo's head? It might give you some idea if it's an area that will close up with time. |

Apologies for referring to the snakes as rescues, never meant to offend.
In no way was I being critical regards any of the snakes, was just curious regards the scar on Mojo - again I have no experience of snakes with scars/scale problems and just wanted to 'know' I had spotted something.
Apologies for referring to Dusty as female - just sounded a feminine name to me, he is lovely, but I like Columbians. |

None of these snakes were 'rescues', they were being cared-for. They just needed new homes so I agreed that they could be brought here until I can place them, which may take years in some cases :)
Mojo does have a rather large head scar, yes. It looks like it's as healed that it'll ever really get.
Dusty was indeed just wrapping-up a moult when he arrived. He shed in 2 days and that's the 2nd shot you see. It's going to take another moult before I can see how much improvement it really makes, although it's certainly much more hydrated now than it was upon arrival. Both RBs were quite dry when they arrived, but overall everything was in good health upon arrival. As for Skyler when she came here a couple of years ago, she was *very* well taken care-of and was as healthy as a horse - I actually had to trim her-out :) |

Glad Skyler has finally eaten again - I have yet to experience a non eating snake.
Great looking rescue snakes, just a few questions 
1. Does Mojo have some sort of scale damage on his head? visible in the second pic down (pic is awesome, showing great rainbow colouration)
2. Was Dusty in 'blue' on arrival? The 'now' pic of her is so much brighter. She is lovely, I have two baby columbians and can't wait for them to mature.

YAY, Skyler ate! that is awesome! Congrats. :) Those are some seriously beautiful snakes that you've taken in, Todd. I especially love that little Pastel python, it's adorable. Major kudos to you for giving these guys a wonderful home! :) |

For those unfamiliar with Skyler, she was a take-in a couple of years go - she didn't come with this last batch of 3 that were dropped off :) |
