Posted - 27/02/2013 : 20:58:33 This week Living Gems starts profiling, for the first time in almost two years, some of our next generation of up-and-coming breeders: those animals we expect to mature in time for either the 2014 or 2015 seasons.
First up is Jasper. Jasper was born in August 2009. She was acquired for her substantial bullseye patterning, one of the strongest examples I have ever seen. We named her, as with all Living Gems females, after a semiprecious gemstone.
Here is Jasper in June 2010, in her first formal photo session after she arrived at Living Gems. Note the contrast between her dark face and light silvery eyes, as well as her strong pattern, which was much more obvious as a baby than an adult:

Here is Jasper as of August 2012, on the occasion of her third birthday. Note she had to be gently restrained for the outside shot, as she did not like the idea of just sitting still when there were all these new scents to explore.

Currently weighing in the 1500s, we fully expect Jasper to join our breeder ranks for the 2014 season.

Bunny, I always forget she has color, because I always see her inside under dim lighting. Under a flash or direct sun, though, she glows!
LOL on the arm. Next time I'll have to bust out my "30-foot" rainbow for fun. ;-)
Sue/Moppet, I love her pattern too -- I'm thrilled to have such a clear example in my collection! |
