I was thinking of putting a live plant in my BRB's viv.

Nothing flowering, just a leafy plant of some sort.

Does anyone know what ones are safe or have any plant types they would recommend?

Thanks

Steve

Is a list of toxic plants and vegetation thats not suitable for reps, and some plants that are generally accepted as safe, toxic plants its on the corn snake forum but pretty sure its valid for all snakes.

Melissa Kaplan put together a list in 97 that is separated by environment type, ie. Desert, Tropical or Aquatic. Should be another good reference for you.

Keep us posted and be sure to post some pics once you get the plant(s) in.

1.1 Brazilian Rainbow Boas (Vinni & Scarlet)
1.0 Yellow Niger Uromastyx (Taji)
0.1 Crested Gecko (Unnamed)
0.0.1 Ball Python (Val)

Any thoughts on putting a few daisies or clover plants in a BRB viv ??

Cant see them being toxic although I'm sure I read somewhere that you shouldn't plant Buttercups in a snake viv .

Won't both of those need sun? Brazilian tanks are challenging for plants in that most greenery requires direct light, but these snakes are nocturnal and thus have a strong aversion to light. I have heard good things about Pothos though.

Good point about them needing light .

What about Oxalis ?? Shade and damp loving compact plants ??

We have 'inch' plant in our vivs for both the rainbows in the vivs and that seems to grow with background lighting.

Safe too. Not sure if the official name is wandering jew. It's commonly called inch plant because it supposedly grows about 1 inch a day

I'm currently on the lookout for a type of vine called a Kudzu vine.
There are many places where I believe it may possibly be illegal to have due to how invasive it is, but it's a strong vine that reptile safe, grows massive and quickly if left to do what it wants.
Plus the leaves are supposed to be a great hangover cure as well.

How do you keep it under control if it grows so fast ?

Looks great by the way although I did see one article that said ....Danger:
Handling plant may cause skin irritation or allergic reaction ?? The warning was aimed at human , though .
