hi everyone i am new here but not to snakes. We have had snakes for years mainly pythons but this july i finaly persuaded my hubby to buy me 2 iredesent rainows, i have always loved boas when we saw this pair in the rep shop we fellnin love, i will try to post piccies when i get some, i hope to get to know a few of you on here and share a few stories.

what is the best substate? mine are on cork bark you know that dark stuff, it holds the moisture well but my snakes are so well hidden in it i hardly see them!!

Hello tuppence- welcome to the forum.

Bark is fine, but I use a mixture of eco-earth and bark and I find that works well too. Plus you can have live plants in then too.

thanks for that, i have a peice of slate at the basking end, a hide in the middle and a waterfall at the coolend but i find they spend most of thier time buried in the middle of the viv is this normal? i hardly ever see them

They are probably most comfortable in the middle, so that's why they stay there the most.

It is normal to hardly see them- mine only comes out at night when she thinks we've gone to bed

i live by a very good breeder, they are`nt for everyone i must admit you MUST do your homework first as with any animal but with these little creatures you have to. they are so cute and they form such strong bonds with thier owners. thier diets can be a bit tricky if you do`nt have access to the right vitamins too but as i said i live by a breeder so i have no problem

Sounds like too big a job for me- with all these snakes and amphibians in the house I'm busy enough

by the way we also have 2 dogs, 1 cat 1 galah, 1 marine fish tank 1 bull frog 2 beardies 4 pythonss, 2 royals and 2 carpets and 8 spiders now i have my boas and my 2 sugargliders so you can see i have my hands full too!!

i heard that sugar gliders were also known as fury cobras.look very cute though.what spiders do you have? i would love a brazillian black but my wife is phobic.
