have been looking around for an attractive piece of wood. its sooooo expensive from the shops. £35 +. i asked a guy in the shop about doing your own wood and he didnt advise it , saying bleaching the wood is dangerous ect, and am i willing to risk killing my snakes ??? is it dangerous , or is it the "obvious" he wants me to spend ££ in his shop? has anyone else got their own wood and treated it? advice and tips appreciated guys !!

As long as you rinse it down it isn't a problem.
Best way is sand blast it then rinse.
Or just go else where

went and forked out for a lovley piece of wood. looks great. now ive noticed theres green mould appearing on it.sure this is because of the high humidity, but will it be harmful for my snakes ? the wood states "for fish tanks and reptiles". its called MAPANI wood.have poured boiling water over it to get rid , but im sure it will come back ! any views or ideas people??

Not much you can do really- it is because of the high humidity.

Just keep washing it off with boiling water. It is a pain, but it'll not hurt your snake as long as you keep up with the cleaning
