| Hi, I have two Brazilian Rainbow Boa's one CB11 female and one CB12 male. The past two times I have tried to feed the pair of them they have shown no interest whatsoever. I'm just wondering whether this could be a seasonal thing, like a period they go through where they don't eat for ages? i bought my CB11 last year around November time, So I wouldn't really know, I have been told that they do have certain periods up where they could go for up to 8 weeks with no food. Is this true? could anyone help me on this topic? I feed the CB12 once a week on mice and the CB11 usually once every two weeks on rats, and she has missed 1 month up to now and the male has missed 2 weeks worth. They have both shed since BEFORE they had their last meal. I'm not quite sure what the issue is? temperature in both vivariums are fine, humidity spot on, they shouldn't be stressed, they are ok to handle, don't go for me or don't seem out of their usual character, I just don't understand what it could be?!?!?!? |

My first thought would be to double check your temps, humidity, and traffic. Don't look at the thermostat, but take fresh readings, and also think about seasonal differences in sunlight and/or cooling that may be affecting the room differently than before. Any new pets or people in the house? New substrate or furnishings that may have brought mites in? New scents? Water system changes?
If all of these are negative (no change), than it's not yet time to worry -- these snakes can go months without food if they have to. Keeping offering weekly meals for a few more weeks. If they still refuse at that point, try a live mouse to get them feeding again.
