Hi there, I thought I would sign up here to get some advice before I consider getting a hatchling brb. I have kept corn snakes for 6 years, i know about humidity requirements and temperature. I have read various statements on vivatium size, when the animal is fully grown can I house it with a 3x2x2 vivarium, if that's to small, what size would you reccomend. Also I have a 4 year old daughter who does not hold any of my snakes but watches me as I handle them, so my second question is about your general opinions on how dosile/tame they are, just that if it constantly bit me for the next 20 years I think it might put her off snakes which I don't want because she loves them so far. Sorry if I rambled and if my spellings bad, typing on my phone!!

Matt

I just bought number 20 off them. Bit cheaper than £195

I would agree with £195 being a bit steep. For an hatching I would look around the £100 mark from classifieds or a show and up to about £130 from a rep shop.

That viv should be alright, although I prefer to give them a bit more height. They are semi-aboreal so appreciate a nice bit of climbing space if you give it to them.

i got mine at 2.5 yrs old with a viv on the reptile furum for £150. i do think however that was a megga bargin.

We will get on regardless, unless someone says 3x2x2 is not big enough.

It's just where to get one from now!

i guess you will be getting one soon then, they are the prettest snakes ever in my opinion.
Xipetotec Posted - 16/04/2010 : 15:07:35
Will ask my little girl if she thinks they are pretty, if she says yes then I think we will get one soon

my kids (girl 11 and boy 4)both love to handle the snakes and do so with great confidence, but always under a watchful eye. that said they only stroke maddi.
we have a cali king, two corns, a mexican milk,a baby bullsnake and a brb.
jono-r Posted - 16/04/2010 : 14:55:50
im sure 3x2x2 would be ok. as for £195, well i think thats a bit steep. Where are you from?
Xipetotec Posted - 16/04/2010 : 14:53:35
She strokes the corns and they run from my hand to hers and back onto mine and she loves it, I won't let her hold them on her pen as I think at times she's a bit quick and would startle them, she is getting better though! I just really hope 3x2x2 willbe ok as I don't want to go bigger. A locdl store has a hatchling in that's real tame, but it £195, how does that sound?

thats a good place to start, maddi can put a good squeeze on. a bad expierience at that age could put her off for life too
