For these next short entries, we are profiling our four holdbacks from the 2011 Hills-Alex litter. Born on September 14, 2011, all four just hit their one-year birthdays, and are shaping up nicely. We will cover two babies a week over the next two weeks. This is part one of the four-part series.

Kilimanjaro is the little punk of the litter. He was feistiest of the group on the day they were born, nipping me not once but several times as I transferred him to the scale and his drawer. He also proved to be the athlete of the group, once managing to bolt his drawer to the floor in a quick (and quickly terminated) escape attempt.

Here is Kilimanjaro as of his birth in September 2011:

Here he is at six months in March 2012:

And here he is at one year in September 2012:

Inside

He now weighs 218 grams, placing him a few months ahead of the usual growth curve for a Brazilian of his age. Going forward, we hope he will develop into a solid red specimen.

Thank you for reading,

Absolutely gorgeous! Love to see the progressive shots of the snake, gives a good idea of the color change as they age.

When all else fails, find someone who knows what they're doing and try as best you can to do what they're doing.
