i know many people have asked about foggers but i want answers from people who actually have one instead of people who are looking upon them with no real experience.
so does anyone recommend a waterfall or a fogger? because when i am at school or on holiday (i go twice a year) it could be very useful do you not think?
also what about a ceramic bulb that could come in handy in increasing the humidity and i have a normal bulb too so i can see it but then it will do the heatmat's job which i need for the r.u.b or does a normal light bulb do the same job as a ceramic??.....VERY CONFUSING someone please shed some light on this for me....
I have a humidifier pumping humid air into my royals Viv. My viv's are very very dry. Can get down to low 20's when the weather is really dry. After playing with substrates and larger waterbowls i jumped into it and took the gamble with a humidifier.
It is just a £20 one from argos and i slightly modified it to allow a 3/4" rubber pipe to carry the air from the humidifier into the viv. The pipe has 6mm holes drilled all along it to allow it to evenly fill the viv up. It is controlled by a Lucky Rep Humidifier control. It keeps it within range effortlessly and alarms if it goes over or under. My royal has has 2 perfect sheds since as opposed to patchy flakey sheds.
It does need a lot of thinking about as of course i don't want my royal to have an RI. But if you do do it, start low and work up to the right humidity. It took nearly 3 months to get it right.

Hi I used a mister and found it of little use to be honest - if you are going away for a couple of weeks, then the chances are that the water will go lower than the level needed for the mister/fogger to work and therefore it won't be of any use and will probably burn out.
I use ceramic bulbs but they aren't great for humidity as they tend to dry the air out.
Rainbow boas go through a period of lower temps and humidity in the wild cos of seasonal changes so perhaps you could simulate this for when you are away? If so give them their last feed a couple of weeks prior to you going away so they have time to digest fully.
