Hello all, I have a BRB, Rosalyn, for about 3 months now. She is the sweetest snake I have ever owned never hisses, bites and seems to enjoy being handled.
I was speaking to a pet store owner last week and he mentioned something about BRBs getting scale rot? I was a bit puzzled at this as they need 80%+ humidity. I thought I had read somewhere about BRBs not being able to get scale rot, similar to water snakes but wanted to verify.
I am keeping Rosalyn in a 10 gal glass aquarium, using cypress mulch and a bit of sorghum moss. I run an humidifier about 6-8 hours a day keeping the humidity levels 90+ for the most part. Tank temp runs about 85F. I have a 20 gal long tank I am waiting for her to get a bit larger before I move her into. I see her, usually after feeding, soaking in her water dish for a few hours. There is never water sitting on the bottom of the tank but everything is pretty damp in there.
Soo, just wanted to verify that Im thinking along the correct lines for keeping the humidity very high for at least the first year. The care sheets do say 80%+ but wanted to make sure there was no upper limit.
