onix is in a 45 litre tub w/3 cloths at the bottom, heat mat underneath the tub itself, water dish on hot side and used a placcy plant pot with a square hole cut into it(synged the edges with a lighter so theirs no sharp bits)at put sum moss damp moss inside it.then drilled some 3mm holes in the lid and sprayed warm water round the tub then(after some fiddling with heat mat)set the stat its kicking in about 25c and knocking of at just under 30c tie-wrapped stat probe n temp probe together so to be accurate as possible with temps.humidity is staying around high 70's.

1st question:have i missed any thing out
2nd question:whats the best viv/terrarium or other housing as i dont want to tub him for long

Looks like you've put some thought into this - great to hear! Mostly sounds spot on. How about some climbing space? any fake vines or some wood lying around? If you're getting a hatchling, see if you can increase humidities into the 80's and she'll be in as ga a place as possible!! :)

UPDATE:my delivery came this morning which means new stat and sum orchid bark(which has brought humidity up to an average 82).
on the not so funny side while i was swapping substrate i gave onix to the missis to hold for 2 mins(bad idea)within seconds he gave her the slip and went under the cushions and inside the settee(want something doing...)so after 20 mins of chopping underneath of settee and unscrewing the frame and slicing through the liners found him tucked in the settee arm had to tempt him out with a mouse as he was wrapped around the frame solid as a rock and didnt wanna risk yanking him out .so thats todays adventure

Glad you managed to pull the rescue. They can be evasive little buggers for sure. ;-) Your setup sounds fine, though I was unclear on how mucy of the tub bottom the heatmat covered.

As for "best" viv, there is no one answer. Just make sure whatever you get has enough room for him to gorw to adulthood (at least three feet by two feet), can hold humidity (no screen tops!), and is moisture resistant (no untreated wood). Best of luck!
