Welcome to the forum, and congrats on the acquisition. If he's eating, that's a good sign! Everything else can be fixed. Temps and humidity look fine, so what about other elements? Movement: rainbows are secretive and noctural anyway, so this may be normal. Does he have enough cover to feel secure? Is there a lot of room traffic? Feeding: how are you feeding him? Some rainbows prefer hot prey to warm, or evening feedings to daytime. Do you wiggle it at all to simulate that it is alive?
As a final note, a pinky mouse is a *tiny* meal to even a small rainbow. Does the mouse leave a lump in his stomach? And does that lump last longer than a day? If not, you might want to increase the prey by a size.
Hope this helps, |

thanks for the replies :) yh theres 2 hides in there and he has moss he likes to hide under, well i normally give him 2 but i fed him yesterday n he only ate one of them :s not sure y. it leaves a slight lumo but not a big one unless he eats 2. im going to buy more mice the weekend as im running low so i think i might buy some fuzzy mice instead of the pinks. i tried a rat pup but he wasnt interested in it at all. maybe he's just a shy snake lol :P i'll upload pics when he has finishd digesting his mouse :) x |

Sounds like he has enough cover. I've had some refuse rats before as well, some rainbows are just snobby about which rodents they prefer. ;-) As you had suggested, try a mouse fuzzy and let's see what he does. BTW, how often do you offer food?
If you give us weight/length we can make a guess for you on age.
Looking forward to the picts!
@ Ash: thanks! |
