Hi all,
Just joined up to the forum recently because I am wanting to do some research into a new type of reptile housing. These have actually been designed with Royal Pythons in mind however I believe they would also suit the Rainbow Boa.
Until now these have only been available in Canada and the USA but they have been very popular. I have been granted the exclusive distribution rights in the UK for this product and was after your views on it. Please believe me when I say I am not advertising it - I am researching into what people think about it to get an idea as to whether it is worth importing or not. It is still very early stages yet.
What do you think to it's appearance? How much would you be prepared to pay for such a thing?
It is made from acrylic, the door has two key operated locks and ventilation is provided by a 1/4" gap around the door. There is a hole on the back towards the bottom to accommodate thermostat sensors and misting is reduced to once every 3/4 days due to decent humidity retention.
Anyway here is a couple of pics:

Sorry for the big pics! They are also being made in green. I would be very interested on your opinions on these.
Cheers,
Mark |

Hello and welcome to the forum.
Its good to see your researching in to such things we have another memember on here who is also designing vivs and stuff as part as his uni project , Would be good for the both of yall's to compare notes and stuff he will be online soon and be here to comment , However i have seen a viv simular to the ones you have displayed and that sell at Argos that are not expensive for what it is.
Link one small design - Small
Link two medium design - Medium
Link three large design - Large
But my thoughts to be honest I like the design and i like the fact it has locks on it and love how its presented you said its made from acrylic is that heat resistant ?
For price wise well what can i say we all like to bag a bargin haha but in all honesty for a 3x2x2 i would expect to pay something around the £90 - £110 range for what it is and i know it will be worth it as its not going to rott against with the high humidity that rainbow boa's need. If i think of anything eles to add on i will add it shortly. |

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply. They are heat resistant up to 150+ farenheit. I never knew Argos were selling vivs, you learn something new everyday! |

Those vivs from argos are about as much use an an ejector seat on a helicoptor though. I thought they looked brilliant, and they do.
That's the only good thing about them. They are tilted backwards towards the top which can make them unstable to stack, the runners fall off easily so require regular maintenance.
Although I already know the answer, I'd like to ask it on here for the reference for others.
What are they like for stacking? How high can they be stacked if they wanted to be? What heating methods are you aware have been tried/tested? Is it possible to add extra holes to help secure internal decorations?

Good point ^^ And also to add to that would you be able to add a fixture for a ceramic bulb and bulb guard ? |

Great points, all. Another one, more specific to rainbows: how well does the cage minimize air exchnage with the outside world in order to retain humidity? |
