I am struggling to get the temperature of my brazilian rainbow boa's viv above 28-29degrees. I know ideally it should be a little higher than this. Is this temperature high enough to still be safe or should I look into finding an alternative way of heating it?
I haven't had him long and still have a lot to learn about him. Any help would be appreciated :) |

Hi & welcome to the forum.
I wouldn't be too concerned with the temps you have, I find my young BRB Zippy spends a lot of his time in the cool end of his enclosure & the warm end is currently around 29°c. However if your BRB is spending all of its time in the warmest part then maybe you could do with slightly higher temps.
What size & type (ie. wood/glass/plastic etc) of viv is your BRB housed in & what type of heat source are you using? all these factors will need to be taken into consideration for advice to be given.

Hello and welcome to the forum .
The temps sound fine you don't want to go any higher or you will end up killing your snake. |

Hi Sweaty Goth, welcome to the forum!
Brazilian vivs should have a temp range of 22C at the low end to 28C at the high end. You *can* push past that to 29C, but you're starting to enter risky territory, as a random heat spike can push that into territory that is potentially lethal to these snakes (29.5C and above). Keep in mind that a Brazilian will often choose what it perceives as "safety" over proper thermoregulation, so if the best hiding spot is in the hot end of the tank, the snake will spend its time there. Thus, it's best to keep that high temp at safe levels.
I hope this helps, and good luck, |

Thanks for all your help. Thermostat is set to 30 at the hot end (though it have never got that high). I'll turn it down a little just to be on the safe side :) |
