I do a complete cleaning cycle every quarter, with spot cleaning in the interim. Really, though, the answer is whenever it gets messy enough to warrant replacement....the periodic approach is just a safety/fallback. |

Do it monthly and your usual spot check , I agree with Louise it is very messy I use it for both my boa's but after I run out I think I shall just use Orchid Bark . |

Hi
I am using plantation soil at the moment too. It is excellent for keeping moisture, humidity has never been so easy to maintain but I am starting to agree with others about the mess. It sticks to absolutely everything, lumps under the water bowl which drop off on route to the sink (wife loves that!!) . My BRB like to burry herself in it from time to time and it then gets stuck on her, hence i am always finding it in her water. I am seriously weighing up the pros and cons as to weather to go back to orchid bark myself!

Having EXACTLY the same issues However I think that the extra moisture keeping is totally worth it! |

I agree would be great if Exo terra made a second eddition to the plantation soil and for it to be in bigger bits rather than soil so it don't get so messy lol. |
