Hey guys! So Arco shed Monday night. Perfect shed aswell! This morning I get up to see her soaking in her water bowl. I thought it was quite sweet, got some good photos and all that!! Went to work this morning and when I came back, 11 hours later, she was still there?? Never seen her be in there for so long......is that normal???

As they age, rainbows will spend more time in their water bowls...even days. No need to worry unless you have gotten a source of contamination recently (new snake, substrate bag from herp store, etc.), or see something odd in the water (I'm told that drowned mites would look like little black flecks in the water).

That's good to know Cliff. Can't see any mites as yet... I'm hoping that's not why she's soaking...shes only just shed and her cool hide is 99% humidity. Gonna get her a warm side hide aswell.
How long before I should get worried?!! 24 hrs 48 hrs?!!

I've seen adults soak for as much as five days straight. Make sure to check the water under yours to see if she's soiled it; if so, gently evict her and change it.

Thanks for the advice Cliff! You always put my mind at ease!!
Arco decided that a near 30 hour bath was quite sufficient for her!! Ha ha!!! She's fed tonight and gone back to snuggle in her hide!!
Thanks again! Always really paranoid when she does stuff for the first time!! The joys of being a first time snake owner!!
We got ourselves two beautiful Garter snakes aswell! Got the snake bug I think!! #128516; :D
